Sao Paulo—General sentiment among most Brazilian pig iron suppliers turned bullish in the week ended Friday, with demand and prices reported at higher levels. Iron ore prices have been strongly pressuring production costs and were pointed out as one of the reasons for higher offers. S&P Global Platts assessed the weekly (July 15-19) Brazilian export basic pig iron price up $7.50/mt to $320/mt FOB Southeastern ports, based on a range of $318-$322/mt of repeatable offers and bids. The week before, pig iron prices were reported at $310-$315/mt.
