London—Import prices for Turkish scrap strengthened further Thursday as steel producers in Turkey showed strong buying interest. S&P Global Platts assessed Turkish imports of premium heavy melting scrap 1/2 (80:20) at $312/mt CFR Thursday, up $2/mt from Wednesday. With the Turkish holidays from May 31 fast approaching, Turkish buyers continued to look for scrap material for June shipment on Thursday, pushing up prices above Wednesday’s US sale.

7. Commodity prices have risen sharply since 2006. This may benefit developing countries specialized on primary exports, but poverty may increase. Uruguay is a net exporter of primary products and a net importer of oil.
