摘要

London—German steelmakers Dillinger and Saarstahl said Friday they are aligning their operations toward carbon-free steelmaking technology as part of a move to cut costs by Eur250 million ($273.48 million) a year, and expect funding from “political leaders” to help achieve this because of an onerous carbon certification system. The cost reduction aimed for will be 60% derived from savings on the cost of materials and external services and 40% in personnel expenses, Dillinger and Saarstahl — both part of the SHS holding group — said in a joint statement. This will involve cutting 1,500 jobs and the outsourcing of 1,000 jobs in Saarland, they said.
