Atlantic market falls on sustained APAC, futures drop

London—Atlantic coking coal markets suffered price falls Monday, as sharply lower futures and a reduction in premium coal FOB indices since Friday left US tradable values paring back in the absence of reported deals. S&P Global Platts assessed US East Coast low-vol HCC down $1 to $173.50/ mt FOB, based on 58% coke strength after reaction and 19% volatile matter material. The Platts US high-vol A index fell $1.50 to $188.50/mt FOB USEC, based on 32% volatile matter, 1.1% reflectance straight coal and low ash and sulfur , and CSR typically in the low 60s.
