Singapore—China’s coking coal imports in August increased for the fourth consecutive month, gaining 17% on July to 9.06 million mt in August, and up 29.45% on the year, China Customs data released Friday showed. Imports from Australia rose 13.61% to 4.49 million mt in August, and up 31.27% year on year, while imports from Mongolia jumped 45.07% month on month to 3.73 million mt and surged 76.54% year on year. Over January-August, China imported 53.12 million mt of coking coal, up 22% from a year ago.
