Turkish import scrap price plunges $6/mt

Import prices for Turkish ferrous scrap dropped to a fresh low Tuesday after a Baltic recycler sold a second cargo within a week to Turkey. S&P Global Platts assessed Turkish imports of premium heavy melting scrap 1/2 (80:20) at $241/mt CFR Tuesday, down $6/ mt from Monday -– the lowest price level since January 2017. A Baltic recycler sold one cargo to an Izmir-based steelmaker at around 1630 BST Monday, consisting of 25,000 mt HMS 1/2 (80:20). The deal was confirmed by the seller as a spot shipment. The same seller's last two trades thus led down prices by around $15/mt in total, with no other recycler heard selling in the meantime.
