London—Trading volumes for London Metal Exchange scrap futures over the week to Thursday more than tripled to 129,120 mt, reaching their highest level since 190,420 mt was traded over the week ending September 13. The flurry of activity came as futures traders took positions amid a period of relatively stability in the physical market, where Turkish import scrap prices remained stable at $299.50/mt CFR over the four-day period to Thursday, as physical market participants digest the recent higher prices ahead of 2020.
