Singapore—Sentiment between buyers and sellers on the East Asian bulk heavy melting scrap market remained split, keeping prices sideways for a sixth week, market sources said. S&P Global Platts assessed the East Asia bulk HMS I/II 80:20 spot price at $304/mt CFR, unchanged from a week ago. "South Korean buyers are keeping their attention on Japanese scrap instead," a South Korean trader said. "Buyers are holding expectations of deepsea cargo to be priced below $300/mt on a HMS I basis [CFR South Korea]. But suppliers are holding their expectations at $310/mt or above."
