Singapore—S&P Global Platts assessed the CIF China 58%-60% Cr high-carbon ferrochrome at 69-71 cents/lb Wednesday, down from 70-72 cents/lb. Meanwhile, the CIF China 48%-52% Cr charge chrome was assessed at 69-71 cents/lb this week, down from 70.5-72.5 cents/lb. Global stainless steel demand remained sluggish and production cuts from mills increased the downward pressure on ferrochrome prices. However, production costs were cited to be a support for prices.
