Pittsburgh—August US scrap buying continued Tuesday as more mills entered the market early in the week at up $20/lt, following Detroit area mills on Thursday and Friday of last week, as suppliers holding out for higher levels began to concede. After Detroit-area mills entered the August scrap market late last week, the majority of buying for the month was yet to be completed as scrap suppliers were bullish on the prospect of transacting at levels above $20/lt. But one supplier described the market Monday as a "tug of war" between up $20/lt and up $30/lt.
