London—Russia’s industry ministry will finalize public consultations regarding proposed limitations on ferrous scrap exports by next Monday, July 8, according to a statement on the government’s website. The hearings will be followed by revision of the draft decree prior to its submission for final government approval, the statement added. Russia is considering introducing quotas that will reduce ferrous scrap exports outside the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) by 1.5 million mt in the period from July 1 through December 31. Scrap shipments to other union member states, including Belarus and Kazakhstan, will remain free from limitations, according to the ministry’s notice.
