Iron ore price jumps on strong steel demand

Singapore—The seaborne iron ore market strengthened Thursday on strong steel demand, fueling iron ore buying activities. S&P Global Platts assessed the 62% Fe Iron Ore Index at $83.40/dry mt CFR North China Thursday, up $2.25/dmt from Wednesday. The front-month December TSI swap was up $2.55/dmt from Wednesday at $81.85/dmt Thursday. China's property sales inched up 0.1% on the year from January to October, the first time they have turned positive for this year, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
