Singapore—Deepsea bulk scrap prices to East Asia jumped $13/mt on the week, as bullish factors from the West continued pounding on regional mill margins, East Asia-based sources said. S&P Global Platts assessed HMS I/ II 80:20 spot price at $295/mt CFR Wednesday, up $13/mt from a week ago. Indicative tradable values heard in the South Korean market hovered at a minimum of $295/mt CFR Wednesday, for US material on an HMS I basis, a trading source said. "Scrap suppliers are clearly not in a rush to sell now. Their inventories are tight," the trader said. "Amid the fast pace in price increases, it is also a risk for suppliers to seal a deal now and then get exposed to higher collection rates during the month. The market is just too unstable."
