London—Despite complaints from private sector miners, the Iranian government is going to increase the export duty on iron ore, according to an informed source close to the industry. The duty will be increased to at least 25% in the next three weeks and will cover both of iron ore and iron ore pellet, he said. The export duty on iron ore is currently 10% but it does not include iron ore pellet. The exports of iron ore and iron ore pellet were previously restricted by the government in August and at the moment all miners must obtain permission before making any shipments.
