October US East Coast scrap exports target Thailand

The US exported 75,718 mt of ferrous scrap from East Coast ports to Thailand in October, as exporters took advantage of the pricing premium of ferrous scrap in Asia versus Turkey that persisted earlier this year. In October the US exported 38,546 mt out of Boston and 36,860 mt out of New York City to Thailand. The shipments were primarily shredded scrap (55,499 mt) and HMS 1&2 (16,390 mt) and the overall tonnage was the most sent from the US East Coast to Thailand since April 2011.
