NSSMC to reline its Muroran BF in 2020

Japan’s largest integrated mill, Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corp announced Friday that the company decided to reline the No.2 blast furnace at its Muroran works in Hokkaido.No.2 furnace is the only blast furnace at its Muroran works, and has been operating since November 2001. It is owned by a joint venture called Hokkai Iron & Coke, held 80% by NSSMC and 20% by Mitsubishi Steel Works.
