Hyundai Merchant Marine orders 20 new container ships

South Korea's Hyundai Merchant Marine has ordered 20 container ships worth a total of Won 3.15 trillion ($2.84 billion), the company said Friday. The company signed three deals for the ships with Hyundai Heavy Industries, Samsung Heavy Industries and Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, to be delivered by June 2021. Hyundai Heavy will build eight container ships of 15,000 TEU or twenty-foot equivalent units each, Samsung Heavy five of 23,000 TEU each, and Daewoo Shipbuilding seven of 23,000 TEU each, Hyundai Merchant Marine said.
