Handan to reduce steel by 20 million mt/year by 2020

Handan, a steelmaking hub in northern China’s Hebei province, plans to remove another 20 million metric tons/year of outdated steel capacity in the next two years in a bid to lower its particulate matter (PM2.5) concentration to below 63 microgram/cubic meter by the end of 2020, China Securities Journal quoted a senior government official of Handan as saying.
