Xingtai city, in northern China's Hebei province, has outlined a three-year blue sky plan in a bid to remove itself from the top 10 most polluted cities list, a report posted by China Metallurgical News showed. Over January-August, Xingtai was the second most polluted city among 169 cities monitored by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment. According to the plan, Xingtai Iron & Steel (Xinggang) was asked to keep just one blast furnace of 1,050 cubic meters, while leaving the other furnaces with inner volume of 450 cu m and below idle. Xinggang was also ordered to provide a relocation and upgrade plan before the end of October and start the relocation process before the end of this year. It should be finished before the end of 2020.
