Japan's April ordinary carbon steel orders rise 1% on year

Ordinary carbon steel orders booked by Japanese mills in April rose 1.1% year on year and by 0.3% from March to 5.66 million mt, according to Japan Iron & Steel Federation data released Monday. A JISF official said the year on year increase mainly came from domestic orders as Japanese mills were limiting their acceptance of orders for export so they can focus on meeting local demand.
