Russian mining and steel company NLMK is introducing stamp-charging technology at its Altai-Koks coke works that should increase coke quality and blast furnace efficiency, while reducing production costs, the company said. Costs could fall by 10%, according to estimates, thanks to a larger share of non-premium coal grades. These will partially replace such grades as Zh and K which are more costly because they are in deficit in Russia.
