China's Handan to cut steel capacity by 300,000 mt/year

Handan city, a steel-making hub in northern China's Hebei province, aims to cut iron-making capacity by 1.51 million mt a year and steel-making capacity by 300,000 mt/year by the end of August. The aim of the move is to cut particulate matter concentrations by 12% from a year earlier to 76 micrograms/cubic meter this year, according to a statement posted on the website of Handan Environmental Protection Bureau Thursday.
