CAP Mineria Q1 iron ore shipments, sales and profit down

CAP Mineria, the mining arm of integrated Chilean steelmaker CAP Group, delivered 3.23 million mt of iron ore products in the first quarter of 2018, down 18.2% year on year from 3.95 million mt, CAP Group said Monday. Of the total, 2.96 million mt was exported, down 20.3% year on year from 3.72 million mt. CAP Mineria shipped 274,000 mt domestically, up 19.1% from 230,000 mt in the year-ago period. The iron ore products in the company's portfolio include pellet feed (Fe 67%-68%), concentrates (Fe 61%) and fines (Fe 62%). Mineria's pellets usually are in a Fe 65%-66% range.
