Mill profits in China's Hebei soared 151% yoy in 2017

Steelmakers operating in northern China's Hebei, the country's largest steel-producing province, realized a profit of Yuan 5.68 billion ($902 million) in December despite the seasonal lull. This was six times the collective profit of a year earlier, according to information on the provincial government website. In 2017, Hebei's steel industry achieved a total profit of Yuan 71.44 billion, up 151.2% from a year earlier. Meanwhile, the asset-liability ratio of steelmakers in the province declined by 0.4 basis points on the year to 62.2% in 2017.
