Spot prices of regionally-traded wire rod in Asia continued decreasing on week as of Wednesday, as offers from China kept falling amid the traditional slow season in winter. S&P Global Platts assessed 6.5mm diameter mesh-quality rod at $540/mt FOB China, down $8/mt from last week. Traders said some major exporting mills in northeastern China sold this week's allocations for SAE1008 6.5mm wire rod at $555/mt FOB Tuesday, down $15/mt from their offer level last week. Traders booked mainly to offset their earlier short sales, they said.
