Turkish HRC enters Chinese and South African markets

Turkish steelmaker attempts to diversify their export destinations to overcome the declines seen in their main export markets due to trade barriers managed to enter Chinese and South African hot-rolled coil markets in August, amid higher HRC pricing in these markets. Turkish mills' shipped 50,000 mt of HRC to China as domestic prices there rose sharply. HRC prices in China exceeded Turkish mills' HRC prices at the beginning of August reaching $500/mt ex-works and above, while Turkish mills were offering HRC around at $470/mt FOB ahead of the Eid holiday in Turkey, which started on July 31.
