Australia's BlueScope Steel flags 'heavy impact' of coronavirus in H1, squeezed margins

Australia's BlueScope Steel said Monday its China operations would likely be “heavily impacted” by the coronavirus in the January-June half and noted the outbreak was also having some impact on its supply chains outside of China. “It’s difficult to contemplate that supply chains [in China] will come back on too quickly; it may be just simple stuff like, you can’t get a truck to deliver your product,” BlueScope chief executive Mark Vasella told analysts while announcing the steelmaker’s first-half financial results.
