Cleveland-Cliffs idles two US iron ore mines

Cleveland-Cliffs plans to temporarily suspend operations at two of its US iron ore mining operations amid lower demand from steel customers, it said. Based on current market conditions, Cliffs will temporarily idle its Northshore Mining operations in Minnesota and Tilden Mine in Michigan, the company said in a statement Monday. Cliffs plans to work down inventory during the idling and will continue to ship iron ore to fulfill its commercial agreements with customers, it said.
