European coil prices hold steady; market expects imminent price increase

The European hot-rolled steel coil market kept relatively stable Sept. 17, with buy-side sources expecting another imminent surge in prices amid the ongoing limited supply, sources told S&P Global Platts. The Platts TSI hot-rolled coil index was calculated Sept. 17 at Eur484.50/mt ($572.82/mt) ex-works Ruhr, up slightly by 50 euro cent. Cold-rolled coil was assessed at Eur541.50/mt ex-works Ruhr, stable on the day. In Southern Europe, HRC rose by Eur2.50/mt on the day and was assessed at Eur473.50/mt ex-works South Europe.
