Tangshan billet prices hit 12-month high; Asian billet prices stable

Tangshan billet prices hit a 12-month high Aug. 31 due to strong market sentiment, which was attributed to environmental production cut policies announced by the government. Asia billet prices were unchanged on firm offers and slow buying activities. S&P Global Platts assessed the China 5SP 150 mm square bar spot price unchanged day on day at a midpoint of $435/mt FOB China. In China, a deal was heard for Vietnamese billet concluded at $432/mt FOB Vietnam for 20,000 mt end- November shipment in the week ended Aug. 29, equivalent to $442/mt CFR China.
