Hoa Phat wins 120,000 mt billet deal to China

Vietnam's steel giant Hoa Phat has secured a deal totaling 120,000 mt of steel billet bound for China's Hangzhou CIEC Group, the steelmaker said Friday. The contract, which was concluded mid-May, will see the billet shipped over a period of two months from July to August, from Hoa Phat’s latest steelmaking facility at its Dung Quat Iron and Steel Complex. Contract prices, although not announced, were heard widely in the market ranging over $385-$390/mt on an FOB basis, with freight to eastern China estimated at $10/mt.
