Turkey's H1 pig iron imports fall, prices strong in line with scrap

Turkey's imports of pig iron fell by 9% year on year in the first half of 2020 to 614,500 mt, in line with the decline seen in Turkish steel output in the period amid mills' production cuts and temporary stoppages due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Turkish mills' crude steel output in January-June totaled 16.3 million mt, down 4.1% on year, Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD) data showed.
