US hot-rolled coil prices were virtually unchanged June 8, but demand started showing signs of recovery after a long slump during the pandemic. The daily Platts TSI US HRC index rose by 50 cents to $507.75/st. Prices recently moved range bound, still up $47.75 since May 1 when it reached a four-year low. The sentiment started improving as some plants either restarted their operations or increased the number of shifts that they operated.
