China’s Q1 crude stainless steel output falls 9% y-o-y: CSSC

Chinese production of crude stainless steel fell 9% year on year in the first quarter to 6.08 million mt, according to latest data from the Stainless Steel Council of China Special Steel Enterprises Association (CSSC). By product, output of chromium/nickel-containing 300 series stainless fell 7.45% year on year to 3.08 million mt, accounting for 50.7% of the total, according to CSSC data. The second-largest grade in terms of output was the chromium-manganese 200 series (including some sub-quality supplies), whose production reached 1.69 million mt in Q1, down 20.64% year on year,
