Turkey import scrap breaks $280/mt with fresh US booking

Import prices for scrap into Turkey reached $280/mt on Tuesday on the back of a fresh US-origin sale. S&P Global Platts assessed Turkish imports of premium heavy melting scrap 1/2 (80:20) at $280/mt CFR Tuesday, up $3.75/mt from Monday. In a fresh deal done Tuesday, one US cargo was sold to an Iskenderun steel mill consisting of 20,000 mt HMS 1/2 (90:10) at $282.50/mt, 5,000 mt shredded at $285/mt and 5,000 mt bonus at $290/mt The buyer told Platts Monday that cargoes with an included shred portion were more difficult to find below $280/mt CFR for the HMS grade.
