Crude steel and direct reduced iron production in Middle East fell significantly year-over-year in August, according to the latest released data by the World Steel Association. The region reported 9.5% year-over-year decrease in crude steel output to 3 million mt, and 8.4% decline in DRI output to 3.1 million mt, in August. Qatar saw the highest on-year decline for both DRI and crude steel among other countries reporting in the region. The countries in Middle East reporting data to World Steel included Iran, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
