Turkey's billet exports slump while imports soar, offer prices flat

Imports of semi-finished steel in Turkey rose significantly in the first half of the year, while Turkish mills' semis exports slumped due to reduced global demand amid the coronavirus pandemic. Due to the slow finished product demand both in the export and domestic markets in recent weeks, pressure on Turkish mills' pricing has risen. However, mills have been maintaining their billet offer prices mostly flat in line with relatively strong scrap prices.
