Leading Algerian exporters and local importers have voiced concerns that the Algerian government willput in place measures to limit the imports of rebar and wire rod, market participants told Platts.No official statement has yet been made to the market by the government, trading sources said.However, concern among importers has spread, particularly after Kamel Rezig, the Algerian minister ofcommerce, said earlier this past week that the government is developing a list of all products producedin Algeria – including from the industrial, agricultural and service sectors, with the aim of “putting an endto anarchic importation.”
