Domestic rebar pricing stays flat amid lower import prices

Rebar pricing in the US was stable Friday, while import prices decreased. The weekly Platts rebar import price was assessed at $590/st Friday, down $10/st from $600/st on a DDP Houston basis. Platts’ weekly Midwest US rebar assessment remained at $615-$645/st on an ex-works basis Friday, while Platts’ weekly Southeast US rebar assessment was also flat at $620-$635/st. Sources reported stable market conditions at the beginning of March. A Midwestern distributor remarked that “things are steady, not great, not bad, just steady.”
