Black Sea billet mills stick to offers in hope of upward momentum from China

CIS billet exporters maintained their offer prices in the hope that some upward momentum would come back soon driven by new demand from China, sources said Oct. 6. In the meantime, the weak billet demand and low price expectations from end users were making any upward movement impossible. Some sources anticipated even some softening instead, in the short term. Platts put its daily billet assessment at $402.50/mt FOB Black Sea on Oct 6, unchanged on the day.
