Brazil HRC prices stable on week, increase scheduled for November

S&P Global Platts assessed Brazilian domestic hot-rolled coil steady for the week ending Oct. 9 at Real 3,500/mt ($620.57/mt) ex-works, excluding taxes, based on a range of Real 3,465-3,535/mt. Brazilian steelmaker Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (CSN) confirmed a price hike of 7%-10% for Nov. 1, depending on the material. “We don’t want imports of galvanized products to increase at the velocity they were before, so [galvanized sheet] will have a lower price increase,” said company executive director Luis Fernando Martinez in an Oct. 16 call to present the company's Q3 results.
