Regional scrap markets saw prices strengthen for another week on the back of strong demand in Turkey. Turkish steelmaker demand for January shipments continued apace in the week to December 13, pushing up prices for the HMS 1/2(80:20) to around $300/mt in deals concluded Thursday and Friday. Some market participants have become increasingly cautious about further upside, but many trading sources expected further support throughout January on tight scrap supply.
