Despite higher sales, Commercial Metals Co. on Monday reported lower net income yearover-year for its fiscal first quarter as the company completed its acquisition of certainrebar assets from Gerdau at the end of 2018.CMC reported net earnings of $19.7 million on sales of $1.28 billion for the three-monthperiod ended November 30. This compares with net income of $36.8 million on sales of$1.1 billion in the same period a year ago. CMC's fiscal Q1 results include net after-taxexpenses of $22.1 million related to certain non-operational costs, it said.
