EC opens review of steel import safeguard measures

The European Commission on Friday initiated a review of the safeguard measures on anumber of imported steel products, focusing in particular on why certain country-specifictariff-rate quotas were exhausted at an unusually fast pace.These include steel from Turkey (organic coated sheets, rebars, wire rod, large weldedtubes), Russia (rebar and rod) and China (coils for automotive applications [4B] andstainless rod).
