Suncor to Increase Production on Flat Spending

Canadian integrated company Suncor plans to keep spending flat in 2019 but expects to boost upstream output by 10%, even after accounting for production cuts mandated by the Alberta government. Suncor said it will spend C$4.9 billion-C$5.6 billion ($3.66 billion-$4.19 billion) in 2019 and average upstream production of 780,000 boe-820,000 boe/d. That would be up from an average of 730,000 boe/d in 2018, the company said. Production will be bolstered by Suncor's majority-owned Fort Hills project operating at target rates in the fourth quarter of 2018 and an increase in flows ahead of schedule at the Exxon Mobil-led Hebron project offshore Newfoundland.
