Diamondback, Carlyle Form $620M JV

Diamondback Energy is teaming with private equity powerhouse Carlyle Group in a $620 million deal to develop its assets in the southern portion of the Permian Basin’s Delaware subbasin. Carlyle’s Energy Mezzanine Opportunities Fund II will finance up to 85% of the San Pedro assets during a five-year development period. Pending the achievement of performance goals, Carlyle’s working interests will largely revert to Diamondback.
