North Dakota oil and gas production in June retreated from the record highs posted a month earlier as weather and gas-capture issues weighed on the ability of operators to ramp up flows. Producers began “tapping the brakes” in June, the latest month of available data, as they waited for pipeline right-of-way issues to get worked out and scrambled to comply with state-mandated restrictions on gas flaring, Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) Director Lynn Helms said. “They haven’t taken their foot off the accelerator, but they’re definitely tapping the brakes,” Helms said.
