Sinopec Said to Remain Keen on Alaska LNG Offtake

China’s Sinopec remains keen to offtake the bulk of output from the Alaska LNG project although it will no longer participate in building the liquefaction unit and pipeline, a spokeswoman for Alaska Gasline Development Corp. (AGDC) told Oil Daily. "Sinopec continues to be interested in 75% of the LNG produced from [the] project but is no longer being considered as a construction manager for Alaska LNG,” said the spokeswoman, noting that Sinopec’s engineering and construction unit has never built an LNG plant before and has no Arctic pipeline experience. But Sinopec officials have indicated they would be open to take on a subcontractor role in the final design and construction stage, she added.
