Oil Edges Higher During Volume Lull

Oil futures moved up Thursday but are struggling to break out of a channel, while volumes on exchanges in London and New York slump into summer lulls. Oil prices have been particularly choppy of late. Prices were up in Thursday’s session, but they were down before the markets opened in New York. They were down hard at Wednesday’s close, too. But last week, they were moving mostly up. At the end of the day, prices were pretty close to their average over the past 10 sessions.
