EDF Shutters UK Gas Storage Facility

The UK’s Hole House natural gas storage facility will be shuttered indefinitely after a long maintenance period, due to unfavorable market conditions, operator EDF Energy has announced. The UK, Europe’s second-largest gas market after Germany, is hard pressed for storage to mitigate supply disruptions during high-demand periods. Its largest storage facility, Rough, was earmarked for shuttering due to its age (IOD Nov.16’17).
